Elementary Art

Elementary Art

The Plano ISD art program begins at the elementary school level with a sequential, developmental curriculum delivered by a highly qualified Art Specialist approximately 50-55 minutes per week.

The elementary art curriculum is developed using the creative cycle.  Lessons are started with students looking at art or big ideas and then thinking about concepts by asking questions and wondering out loud through discussion and artful thinking routines.  Next students move into planning out the art-making process, by sketching and problem-solving ideas with media exploration, then creating the art.  Then lastly reflect on what students made, how they made it, and share the learning with the school community.
